Jawwad Ahmed Farid conducted a workshop on New Venture Failure
on the Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA)
platform on 12th May 2006. The workshop was well attended
by industry professionals, entrepreneurs and students. If
you would like to organize a workshop in your organization,

Following
is a review of the workshop by Ms. Jehan Ara, the President
of PASHA:
Just to let you know that we had the New Venture Failures
workshop at the Karachi Marriott yesterday. It was a 3 hour
session facilitated by Jawwad Ahmed Farid. Also on the panel
were Yusuf Jan Mixit and Muhammad Sabzwari of Si3.
There were just under 30 participants. These included middle
and senior managers from P@SHA member companies. There were
also participants from some of our customer base as well
as some business students. To keep us there, Jawwad had
provided loads of chocolates and biscuits in cute little
baskets. The hi-tea was served through the middle of the
session.
The main event, however, was the workshop. The content of
the workshop was nothing that one could learn from any single
business or management book. It was a combination of insights
and experiences of an entrepreneur who had been to hell
and back, who had drowned and re-surfaced, who had borrowed
from every possible source and invested everything into
ventures that had failed.
It was riveting! The workshop attendees participated fully
and a lot of ideas and opinions and suggestions came out
of 3 hours of intense interaction. Thanks Jawwad - haven't
felt this alive in a long time. The brain was totally engaged.
Thanks also to Yusuf Jan and Muhammad Sabzwari for livening
up the proceedings further.
Attention Lahoris:
Some of you have expressed an interest in this workshop
being conducted in Lahore. I have convinced Jawwad to conduct
it around June 17. Will sort out the exact date, time and
venue and post it next week. I will also be calling a couple
of CEOs in Lahore to be part of the panel so watch out!
Best regards,
Jehan
